Walking-up Grouse
The terrain is probably the hardest of all walking-up shooting. Generally these outings take place on the wild moors where little shooting is done. Therefore the heather will be at its highest, tiring out even the fittest very quickly.
In Scotland, pointers are the favoured dog, used to help find the birds and flush out the grouse when the chosen gun to shoot is ready. Again bags are not large, but the reward of a hard day out is the hot peaty bath with a glass of your favourite tipple!
