Shotgun Licences
It is a legal requirement to obtain a Visitor’s Shotgun Permit from the British Police prior to bringing guns into the UK. This permit needs to be applied for at least a month before you fly and is valid for a year.
Lioncrest will be more than happy to apply for this licence on your behalf.
The information required to apply:
- Your full Name.
- Your current address.
- Date of birth.
- Criminal record (if any).
- Gauge, maker, serial number(s) and type ie, over and under, single trigger.
- Photocopy of a recent US hunting permit / original European Firearms Permit.
- Address in the UK.
- Shoot address in the UK.
You will be required to present your permit and guns on arrival to the UK at HM Customs who will record your entry to and exit from this country.
We would strongly recommend the following when travelling with guns:
a) Always inform the airline in advance that you are planning to travel with shotguns.
b) Ensure your guns are transported in secure metal/plastic cases. Baggage handlers are not known for their gentleness.
